What interesting times these are. It will be common knowledge I'm sure that the British government were defeated in their attempts to gain parliamentary approval for an attack on Syria this week. David Cameron was humiliated such a defeat not been seen in British history since last time a British prime minister lost a vote on war in 1782 – when ironically parliament voted against further fighting in the American War of Independence.
Strange thing history isn't it?.... If the vote had gone the other way on the first occasion we may not be having this repeat performance now?.... Well I should say a sort of repeat ... only now in reverse, a mirror image whereby it is symbolic of the end of a popular endorsement of the United States in Britain that has more or lest been in existence for getting on for 250 years now.
The political embarrassment this has caused the Cameron regime on the world stage is incalculable, the government motion was historically defeated in a major slap in the face for the Con-Dem regime in London.
On Thursday 29th August the recalled parliament voted on the principle of military intervention against Syria. The motion backing the use of force "if necessary" was rejected by 285 votes to 272, a majority of 13 votes. Unlucky for some Dave, eh?
Labour Party leader Ed Miliband withdrew his support for the action at the 11th hour and a sizeable breakaway group of 31 Tory MPs rebelled, as did 9 Liberal Democrats... voting against their own party's coalition government.
What caused this change of heart we might ask? British public opinion is what changed the situation, the more canny MPs could read the runes that said we're not standing for this anymore.
We have seen the loudest silent protest there has ever been...seen but usually not heard in the UK, unless you attend or happen upon a demonstration that actually are springing up all over the country you will have heard no chanting, just a persistent will to oppose this proposed war from the majority of people.
This is make or break time for the current government, the British people have spoken but like pushy salesmen the government opinion forming industry, the motivational predictors, the nudgers will be stepping up the propaganda both gross and more subtle, trying to bend our resolve and justify the war America and its Middle East puppet states want, trying to shape our opinions and change our minds.
This won't work now of course because we have crossed a line of legitimacy and credibility I think whereby only a minority of people now uncritically believe what the BBC tells us, or what the politicians say.
Unfortunately this doesn't stop them from trying to convince us though, so now we have months of persuasion to look forward to, whereby the clever people in the public relations industries will set about thinking up their most creative ways to change our views while false flag incidents escalate unbelievably.
No doubt about it, it is as predictable as clockwork and it is the reason why the corporate media is losing money and status in the world in which we now live.
Like many many other people I posted frequently on mainstrem news sites opposing the war and denouncing those who are driving the rush to conflict with significant support. Some posters on Yahoo News UK were get support of figures like 550 for stopping an attack to 16 against. This was an electronic email and internet demonstration of people power, what the postmodern revolution demands the wave and particle theory of social change that has made this roar so silent and yet conclusive, for now at least anyway.
Miliband has really upset his fellow parliamentary celebrities in the Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties, the boys are planning to get him in the showers and duff him up after the press go home, according to reports in the Independent Cameron has called Miliband a "fucking cunt" plus a few other things that don't sound terribly parliamentary to me and is said to be absolutely fuming.

Unfortunately however, this branch of the Bullingdon club has its hands on weapons of mass destruction, so this is no laughing matter really... better approach these coves with caution I think.
This week the British public succeeded through quietly piling pressure on elected members and posting information and views on public online news boards collectively stuck two fingers up at Barack Obama and his assistant the newly converted Francophile John Kerry.... whilst also punishing our own wayward politicos with a slapping unheard of in the corridors of power here for about 231 years now. Not a bad week as things go but definitely a start rather than a finish in the long struggle ahead for democracy in England and one day a government of our own. Today we hear that:-
The White House released on Friday a report blaming Assad’s regime for the attack, which cited “human, signals and geospatial intelligence,” as well as open source materials such as social media reports and videos of the alleged attack.
The report explicitly stated that it omitted certain classified evidence, which was only made available to the US Congress.
Well nobody here believes in, nor has any faith in the US Congress to make decisions on our behalf and neither will we tolerate the people we elect to British governing bodies making such decisions behind our backs either. If we want to promote the virtues of freedom and democracy in the world let's start right here in England and listen to the will of the people. I will never vote for anyone who does not do as I expect and that is maintain the peace and to refrain from illegal wars and war crimes as the very bottom line for any reciprocal support. I hope David Cameron and any other potential waverers have got the message loud and clear...you love democracy well this is it. The matter is closed here in Britain, how we dissuade France is the next step for the global antiwar coalition perpective and an ongoing project.
Anyway I thought the Middle East has a peace envoy Tony Blair has been hanging with billionaires as per usual stopping briefly between gorging himself to say "bomb Syria" as he spat out caviar, the peace envoys activities have been tracked by British right leaning silent majority, middle England tabloid The Daily Express:-

But last week Mr Blair was treated to a stay on a 377ft super-yacht named the Pelorus.
Chelsea football club-owner Roman Abramovich lost the vessel two years ago and was forced to give it to his ex-wife Irina as part of their £200million divorce.
The visit coincided with rumours of chemical weapons in Damascus and the west's discussions of air strikes on the war-torn country.
The Pelorus reportedly cost current owner, music mogul, David Geffen, 70, £150million or more to buy.
It is because of Blair and the lies he told us back in 2003 that Cameron is completely screwed now and that is the way he will remain, any intervention from Blair only makes matters worse for Cameron. Miliband had better hold the line on this he has to understand it is the one and only chance he has got to get elected next time.
We aren't out of the woods yet, the warmongers are desperate but as always we keep calm and carry on undermining the special relationship and tearing up the warmakers covenant across the Atlantic. We didn't do this alone, they did this themselves and as a result they have made enemies everywhere in every street across the land and far beyond. It's what happens to failed empires, history is littered with proofs across the centuries and now its our turn.
Kate Hudson, general secretary of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament,put it in a nutshell when she said in the Guardian:-
"For the first time in decades, the UK refused to support a US-led war," she said. "Politicians from all parties voted against an attack on Syria.
It not only reflects public opinion and the culmination of over a decade of anti-war campaigning, but also represents a break with the UK's default setting of backing US wars. For once, a majority of our elected officials were in step with the British public."
Too true... when we marched against the war in Iraq ten years ago we set off a current that has grown and matured into opposition to war ingrained now through thorough war weariness if nothing else across every section of British society. The politicians can't or won't stop the madness.... so we will. A line has been drawn in the sand this week and all atempts to subvert that are a total waste of time, we have won the argument, they should just accept it, the psyop has ultimately failed.

In 1649 to St. George's hill they came... This song has been covered and sung by many many protest signers al over the world. At last a version on youtube by the man who wrote it. Covered by Billy Bragg, Dick Gaughan and many others (including about six covers on here) this tale of WInstanley and his peaceful protest cruelly put down hundreds of years ago is a socailist anthem. This rare concert footage of Leon Rosselson was recorded in Edinburgh in October 2007. This hugely powerful song is also on his album Rosselsongs available from his website www.leonrosselson.co.uk Leon kindly allowed us to record this performance and this contains an intro about the 350th anniverary of that event.

13 votes is next to nothing, it could have so easily have gone the other way, and that scares me. I don't pretend to have any real idea of who is doing what to whom in Syria. All I know is that some unimaginably inhumane atrocities are being committed by some people against some other people and I imagine they retaliate with more atrocity committing of their own. I suspect those most damaged by all this atrocity committing are the innocent, the civilians, the children, the elderly and the weak. The response of the collective ummmm.........'civilized' Governments of the world is to send their own killing machines in to Syria, presumably to inflict their own atrocities on any of the innocents who have been lucky enough to escape thus far. Now I know this may sound radical, but the way I see it is Syria needs LESS arms, troops etc not more. I'm sure this is pretty stupid of me but surly there must be a way to protect the innocents and prevent further atrocities without actually adding to the violence and mayhem. Of course that would mean our very lucrative arms industry may not be quite so profitable.
I don't think this is stupid at all, Loretta. Less arms and stop fighting? Hell, that's a tonic compared to all the dsabre-ratting we've had in the media and in the various religious and ethnic and transnational factions trying to sell us on this hideous dogfight.

It would have been great to see Cameron turn to the Labour Bench and say, "My Right Honourable Friend, the F***ing Cunt from Wherever-On-The-Mersey... has left me swinging in the wind, Madame Speaker. A good duffing is called for. You wait 'til they turn the cameras off, Milliband. No luxury yachy in the Med for you!"

And a very comforting thought too in these terrible times Doug. There is not nearly enough violence in Parliament nowadays, that is why it is so cut off from the realities of the real world I suppose. Paliaments were a lot more interesting when they debated things like beheading the monarch than these sleazy salesmen/spivs-on-the-make, who now hang out there fiddling their expenses....and according to Tom Watson apparently sometimes fiddling with kiddies too, or so he says and who can argue with him since it was revealed that the BBC was a paedophile celebrity social club anything may be true?
