Celebrity Britain - Rotten to the Core - Part 1

Boogie Knights

In the UK at the present time we are witnessing a very interesting phenomenon. A celebrity palace coup is taking place and at the centre of it is  Sir Jimmy Savile former saint now as of last week a diabolical monster. In terms of the manufactured celeb-culture in the UK where the media this is making oodles of money out of the moral panic that has arisen around the alleged activities of  Sir James Wilson Vincent Savile, OBE, KCSG

I have to admit that I'm really enjoying the furore that engulfs the BBC and the forensic psychiatric 'Special Hospital' service as well as vast tracts of the National Health Service, social services, the police, the media indeed the entire Celebtocracy has been under the spotlight all week
At times it has been absolutely hilarious, especially when they demolished his recently erected monumental headstone which only a week before had been a shrine to a holy saint that had by the grace of God walked amongst us... that was pure Hammer Horror when they took the sledge hammers to that.
The crime of Jimmy Savile is that he touched up underage girls and occasionally it is alleged boys as well and he was given by the state free rein and open access to an endless supply of victims. If there is any doubt about how much Sir Jimmy a former radio and TV disc jockey and corporate charity benefactor, philanthropist, athlete and sportsman was part of the British establishment his list of honours says its all.

from Wikipedia:-
He was a voracious sexual predator apparently with an insatiable appetite for schoolgirls and when the supply of them.... through all the official channels they were sourced slowed down a bit... or perhaps just for variety his attention would, it is now publicly said turn to the occasional lad.
He was famous for taking disadvantaged and disabled kids for rides in his Rolls Royce where it seems they would have the great honour of being molested by no other than Sir Jimmy Savile himself... tv personality, VIP and holy  Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Gregory the Great (given to him by the Pope for the arbitrary use of power in the service of paedophilia perhaps?). The very good freind of monarchs, presidents and popes ......and all the pop stars and footballers that always say how wonderful Sir Jimmy was on tv and on the radio and in every magazine and newspaper article about his endless work for charity. So yes Jimmy stands accused of taking advantage of the already disadvantaged children because his social capital dwarfed theirs...... nice one your lordship (errm not).

The Catholic church can hardly be surprised by all these allegations against their beloved son the blessed Jimmy Savile, the Vatican must be well used to them by now, even as I type this post, a breaking story on the opposite side of the globe this week concerns:-
"The Catholic Church in the Australian state of Victoria on Thursday denied claims by police that it deliberately covered up paedophilia and talked victims out of reporting sexual abuse."

So it is not only the British establishment that is corrupt beyond all redemption, but the whole globalist project ..... and every manifestation of self-styled (i.e. unelected) world government that is as sick and putrescent, completely mired in scandal and corruption as this one.

The Cult of Celebrity is what gave a license to Jimmy Savile to be fed everything he wanted and he wanted fame, power, huge wealth and an endless supply of bedazzled and star struck children for him to grope in hospitals, at the BBC, in his famous Rolls Royce, at children's homes and even at an 'approved school' for girls where he was welcomed as a model of adult rectitude and propriety. Amazing!

Personally I could never stand the bloke myself, he always gave me the creeps and that has nothing to do with his current fall from grace. I was not a bit surprised to hear these allegations against him...they just fit with what I thought of him anyway...... but I do think it is important to at least acknowledge that there have been cultural changes that have now altered the way society views these issues here and around the world.

When Sir Jim first apparently got a bit touchy feely around schoolgirls, back in the 1960s and 70s it was mostly swept under the carpet so long as they didn't get pregnant (although at least one claimed she did). The Profumo Affair in 1963 made an open secret of sex and power in the British establishment which was all well and good, so long as the the bed hopping doesn't include both the British Secretay of State for War and a senior Russian naval attaché in a any sort of ménage á trois arrangements.

Rightly or wrongly there was a tacit understanding at the time that those girls who my mother would say were "no better than they should be" (whatever that means?) would get involved like this with celebrities, 'groupies' went with the territory .....and nobody ever asked for their birth certificates I don't think.

Obviously this is no defence of Savile's massive betrayal of trust in his endless and unapologetic pusuit of 'cheap thrills' as a right, but to me it is ironic that long before children were being sexualised by the fashion industry to the extent they can be nowadays, when they supposedly remained 'children' and innocent for much longer than the streetwise kids of today, they were far more likely to be secretly abused by an adult in the public eye than is likely to be the case now or in the foreseeable future.
I think that does count as a human rights success even if in other ways ours rights have been rolled back.

In cultural terms I think that is an interesting dynamic.

So now Sir Jimmy in true saintly fashion is belatedly being martyred by the torch bearing mobs, but because this is still for the timebeing a welfare state, without the death penalty..... the powers that be kindly waited until he had been dead almost exactly a year to crucify him.... and to boost the sales of their newspapers ahead of the first anniversary of his passing.

It was the least they could do ... he was one of theirs after all.

Sir Jimmy is still doing alright according the Catholic faith though since Pope John Paul II 'fixed it' with God for him to have the golden keys to Heaven, just like he had the golden keys to Hell...... Well more accurately the gold plated key to maximum security 'special hospital' Broadmoor... where they let him live in the grounds and befriend his fellow psychopaths, plus an array of rapists and sex killers whose residence is not optional. Broadmoor became Sir Jim's very own club ...a place he could really be himself and feel at home amongst own kind, Savile's own dive-in asylum for when life was in danger of getting too dull. This story is beyond bizarre.

The uproar has not only increased the profits of the corporate newsmongers though, it has been cathartic for the population of Austerity Britain to be able to turn to their favourite reason to be outraged, kiddy fiddling the thing we all love to hate - and so we can all forget that the UK government has just this week announced further moves to dismantle the welfare state provisions, under direct instruction of course from their transatlantic handlers at the IMF and World Bank.

This Jimmy Savile thing is just the tip of the iceberg. It is really about the political importance of celebrity culture and power of the ones chosen to be in the public eye. It's about the way the news is manipulated to give impressions which  frequently are conjured up as diversionary ploys simply to obscure other issues in the news. The scandal of the police cover-up at the 1989 Hillsborough Disaster for example is also currently causing massive loss of confidence in the police and other official bodies of the British state, but Sir Jimmy is posthumously doing his bit to divert fire away from other more fundamental and deep seated concerns about the parlous state of our nation.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillsborough_disaster

The British establishment is rotten to the core. The Revolution taking place to overthrow the old order is one about decency in the widest sense, politeness, good neighbourliness, honour, dignity and peaceful coexistence in a world of diversity against priviledge and unfair wealth, filth and depravity, greed and grasping lust, murder and invasion of individuals and whole countries, even whole continents and now including space as well. We are currently in a global cusade of civilisation against the basest motives that the elite defend as their assumed God given right to rule over us and we must end these New Dark Ages, that they have by their willful intention .....and their careless disregard  ....created as our poisoned legacy for future generations to inherit.

Its a big mess and we are the salvage team!

  1. There is so much to take in re the; 'Sir Saville' story; my own thought on the subject are still being processed but you touch on a couple of points I’ve already considered. . I notice you mentioned the cultural change between us then and us now and I think this is one of the reasons these accusations have remained hidden for so long. I mean how often do you hear the term 'jail bait' now? I would say never because now that would be a very non PC thing to say but back then it was common to use the term to somehow justify or at least explain the inappropriate behaviour of some men toward some young girls. If these accusations had surfaced then god knows what the victims would have been put through in order to verify their story. Apparently every one knew ‘he’ always answered his phone by saying ‘it’s not my fault she told me she was 16’, he apparently thought this was funny, he said it as a joke and many people who heard him also thought it was funny. If someone consistently answered their phone in that way now no one would think it funny and it would be ( I hope) a cause for suspicion. Back then, that wasn’t always the case, then, the way a young girl dressed or spoke or looked could all be used as a tool to say ‘she was asking for it’. Remember the films that were culturally fashionable? Films like Alfie or Up the junction?, I know these films didn’t feature underage girls but they were popular mainstream entertainment and featured, as the hero, sleazy young men who treated women with contempt, they weren’t about relationships they were about conquests. The prevalent attitude was ‘you can’t blame a man for trying’. Now what I find myself wondering is; how many people who are jumping up and down in glee babbling about the awful things Sir Saville did were part of that same cultural mindset at the time. How many of them could, in honesty, claim never to have uttered the words ‘jail bait’, or ‘she was asking for it’, or ‘its not all one sided’, or some other platitude aimed at exonerating someone who was a ‘mate’ or ‘one of the lads’?? I suspect not many of those so excited by these disclosures could say that.
The other point you raised that I’ve been thinking about is; what REALLY important piece of news is this story burying? You mention Hillsborough, I thought maybe Hillsborough was being used in conjunction with the Jimmy Saville story to ‘hide’ something more current that they don’t want to be front page news. I’ve no ideas what that could be (what ever it is has been successfully hidden) but yes, that was my instinct too. Maybe you are right and maybe the prominence of the Saville story detracts from Hillsborough but if that is the case, they’ve not done a very good job, next to Sir Saville, Hillsborough is the most reported story of the moment.
I have no idea why the story has been pushed to prominence now, and I’m not at all sure what good all this media frenzy is going to do. If his victims find some resolution or some sort of ‘closure’ then that’s got to be a good thing. Hopefully just being heard, being allowed a platform on which to tell their story and being believed will help them come to terms with what happened. I don’t know what good it will do for all of his victims to sue the NHS or the BBC, after all none of it is going to make any difference to ‘him’, he’s dead and buried and not affected by any of it and the only resources the NHS or the BBC have actually come from us. Therefore if these institutions are sued, it will cost US money. Money that was supposed ( in theory) to be spent saving lives and providing quality TV, which is why I’m dubious about them suing.
Apart from all that ………..hopefully things are different now and institutionalized abuse on this scale can’t happen in the future.

    1. Thanks for your comments Loretta, thanks for raising the point about Jim always giving the game away. You said

"Apparently every one knew ‘he’ always answered his phone by saying ‘it’s not my fault she told me she was 16’, he apparently thought this was funny, he said it as a joke and many people who heard him also thought it was funny."

This is Jimmy hiding in open view, so in our faces that nobody could quite balieve what they were seeing/hearing. It is a clever ploy, people acually witnessed Saville molesting children but they consistently didn't feel able to say anything.

This is similar to the 9/11 Big Lie where a clear controlled demolition of the WTC Twin Towers and Building 7 took place before our very eyes but the al Qaeda story obscured the visible truth. When the airliner is supposed to have hit the Pentagon nobody asked what had happened to its wings, or how did the novice pilot manage to steer his airliner around all the streetlights surrounding the Penatgon at 500 mph just 10 feet off the ground? Pretty unbelievable, but that is the official story.

Jimmy Saville was the 'official story' too.....the one endorsed by the Queen and the Pope...King Jimmy the Untouchable abused children in front of witnesses who over a period of 60 years failed to object in any meaningful way.

You are right about the 'jail bait' culture of the 1960s, like every moral panic there is a massive dollop of hypocrisy here, but the good news they think is that it is safe to say anything now he is dead.

Jimmy Saville hypnotised a large proportion of the population, 9/11 did the same thing, hiding behind massive exposure, everything that doubted that could only have been a conspiracy theory. That is what this story would have been described as if it had come out 10 years ago....it would have been dismissed as conspiracy theory...but it is true, so what else might be true as well?

That's the potential of this story to me, it damages confidence and that so far as I'm concerned is a highly meritorious act.

Thanks again for taking the discussion forward Loretta.

    2. I think you are right re 'what else is true as well??, and I do believe there are many, many more abusers out there who have never been exposed and I also believe the prevailing 'jail bait' mindset of the time is largely responsible for these crimes. I've had the ''if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem' slogan at the top of all my pages for as long as I can remember, because Its something I really believe in, and this is a perfect example of why its so important to stand up and be counted. Jummy Saville was a monster, no double about that, but every one who ever muttered 'jail bait', or ' she asked for it', or anything similar is responsible for facilitating it. As are those who stood silent while their 'mates' said such things. I believe society facilitated crimes such as his.

    3. I think you make an important point about the collective guilt of entire cultures... in that we all live in and with a mindset, a zeitgeist as the more fashionable now call it... so we cannot in my view judge one from another.
In other words there is a social agreement about the limits of what is acceptable and that is always changing and adapting to new developments.
The term Jail Bait was from a comic strip by Robert Crumb from Oz and other underground magazines.

Here is a review of Crumb's only full length cartoon feature film Fritz the Cat it comes from 'Time' magazine in May 1972:-

      FRITZ THE CAT

Written and directed by RALPH BAKSHI

"Robert Crumb is a kind of American Hogarth, a moralist with a blown mind. The gallery he has created in underground comic books—from the gnomic sage Mr. Natural, the Priapus of the Midwest, through such creatures as Angelfood McSpade to that morsel of 13-year-old jailbait, Honeybunch Kaminski—constitutes Head City's sharpest and funniest view of American life. And perhaps the most pornographic. His fantasy unchecked by the strictures of mass circulation, Crumb gave back to cartooning the scatological vigor and erotic exuberance it had during the Regency, and then some."

These were very different times and Time Magazine represented the transatlantic establishment it was no underground magazine itself of course, this was official ideology.

It was the liberal status quo 40 odd years ago. The attitude we have to what constitues under age sex is also contingent on locally agreed norms of course. The legal age of consent for girls in Panama and Mexico is 12, in Spain and Japan for both sexes it is 13, in Germany 14, in the UK (and most of the Commonwealth)it is 16 and in Cameroon it is 21.

So in Cameroon sex with a 20 year old is considered underage , but that would also be true for a 19 year old in Tunisia.

Jimmy Savile was about power and bullying but the topic is a very complex one I think.

  2. I had no idea who Jimmy Savile was, AA. My reaction is the guy looks smarmy as all get out.

I guess I'd seen his face on BBC-America video ads a couple of times but I had no idea if was anything more than some codger the Beeb forgot to retire --so I can only shake my head in disbelief that this clown got away with such atrocious behavior so long. A BBC article on the subject of Sir Jimmy says there may be as many as 170 victims!

And then there's this little nugget from the same BBC Q&A article:

"The Department of Health has said it will investigate its own conduct in appointing Savile to lead a "taskforce" overseeing the management of high security psychiatric hospital Broadmoor in 1998. It comes after the Sun newspaper said Savile assaulted a 17-year-old patient during a visit as a hospital fundraiser in the 1970s.

"Abuse is also alleged to have taken place at Stoke Mandeville hospital and Leeds General Infirmary, where Savile volunteered. Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust said it would help police if asked to do so."

There seems to be no level this "beloved" Jimmy "King of Media" Savile would not stoop into.

I suspect a stay in a psych unit as a pedophile and serial abuser would have been a better way for Sir Jimmy to spend his time. The idea that this toad volunteered and got publicity for being such a nice guy when he was a likely abuser of the helpless boils me. And all the more reason I would think for better PUBLIC support for institutions to help helpless and distressed young people, and not just fix the lock on lock the barn door years after the crime has taken place.

Of course, this is not an isolated event, as has been shown over here in the cover-up scandals in the US Catholic Church and the child-molester Coach Jerry Sandusky of the Penn State college football program. Indeed, there are echoes to your main argument here since in the case of these institutions ultimately the only people who will suffer from punitive damages now are the innocent laity and (for Penn State) university students who will pay for the crimes that likely took place before they were vet born and will not touch the dead.

As to the whole issue celebrity, yes people need to learn early that no man is good to be above the law or saintly enough to not be monitored with kids or the disabled.

  4. Thanks for your comments Doug. Jimmy Savile has been around since I was a child myself listening to Radio Luxembourg pop music channel with its fluctuating signals... long before the BBC and the commercial tv stations in the UK, finally caught on to what was happening in the early 1960s.

Savile co-presented Top of the Pops (TOTP)throughout its long history as a weekly television music show from 1964 to 2006 and even after that as a Christmas Special.

He was also one of the earliest BBC Radio 1 DJs and became a presenter of a a whole raft of radio and tv programmes in a career that spanned more than 50 years.

In many ways Sir Jimmy exemplifies what is wrong with the celebrity culture that has largely replaced religion in secular Britain. John Lennon infamously referred to this process when he said that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. This was not an unreasonable observation at the time.

By the time I left school Savile's yodelling and his very annoying catch phrases were viewed by the people in my 'set' as decidededly 'uncool'!
So indeed had TOTP itself after the arrival of much more hip shows like The Old Grey Whistle Test on BBC2 TV in the early 1970s and John Peel's show on Radio 1 from 1967 and throughout.

Savile was a grandee of the British establishment and not unlike the subject of my earlier blog on Eric Gill, his taste for 'forbidden fruit'was part of his acceptance into that establishment where contempt for the integrity of those deemed social inferiors is endemic.
That is to say that sex abuse is a prominent characteristic of the British social elite, who unlike the "hoi polloi" generally get away with it, although comparing Savile to Gill is like comparing Wal Mart with a corner shop, Sir Jimmy's abuse was it seems on an industrial scale... which made mere play things of the underprivileged and disabled young people.
This is very different to Gill and his incestuous relationships with his daughters and sister. However, one common denominator is that both had the blessings of the wealthy 'upper crust' i.e. social power.... as well of course as they believed they enjoyed the blessings of God. Both were devout Roman Catholics, Savile attended Mass several times a week and was a Papal Knight .... although so is Rupert Murdoch... so make of that what you will.

To my mind this story isn't really about Jimmy Saville touching up children as he apparently believed himself entitled to do with impunity....no this story is about the corruption of the BBC and criminal justice system and department of health which puts the powerful above the law.

This is an expression of class politics and the worst convert to aristocratic excesses are those working class people like Savile who are invited to sit alongside the Great and the Good.

The Boogie Knights as I call them.

Savile was paid in money and virgins and everybody (well except the virgins) were perfectly happy with those arrangements.

  5. I HAVE ONLY JUST REALISED THERE IS A CHARACTER LIMIT ON REPLIES SO THIS IS A CONTINUATION of MY RESPONSE TO DOUG ABOVE:-

The Sir James Savile story is the story of the British ruling class plain and simple. Power without responsibility, priviledge rooted in unpunished crimes, that just about sums up the British ruling elite and their court jesters like Savile.

Now he is dead the investigation is of the system of patronage itself that made it all possible.

I never liked Jimmy Savile but I certainly don't hate him, people are murdered by hi-tech computer games in Afghanistan, Syria, Iran and Pakistan every day paid for out of our taxes. We earlier this year we were burning children alive with white phospherous and destroying their drinking water and the entire infrastructure of whole communities in Libya where the RAF were the exact equivalent of the Nazi Luftwaffe and Tripoli a carbon copy of Guernica.

When you put it in perspective Savile was just another creep and another self obsessed darling of the ruling elite....now he's dead it is they who will have to justify themselves.

Now we've seen our future Queen topless in European magazines there is no limit as to how far this investigation could now go.

Interesting times we are living in Doug

  6. Thanks for bringing me up to date on Jimmy Savile and his major contributions to pop culture. The closest thing to someone like Savile in America was Dick Clark of the long running "American Bandstand" fame. Clark is such an institution over here that his recent death was probably as well covered as that of a former President. He also had something of an image problem as far as how little he paid workers in his rock music-themed restaurant chain. But he, like Savile, was invited into the upper reaches of the ruling elite here in Freedom's Land and likely he kicked over the traces of wherever he came from.

Interesting theory about how people who come up to the top become as bad or worse then the people who are already to the manor born so to speak. Certainly was true of Ronald Reagan and Arnold Swartznegger, the latter having his own problems as his image as a loyal husband to a Kennedy family daughter takes a drubbing before he can meet the Grim Reaper.

He was the "angelic halo boy" of rock and roll in the late 1950's when the "Payola Scandals" were investigated by Congress and Clark came out squeaky clean while others like rock and radio radio pioneer Alan Freed were not so lucky.

By the early 70's when I was coming up and getting into rock and R&B (Soul) music, Clark was decidedly out of style as well, and his "Bandstand" program wasn't as popular in my group as the Afro-American-culture oriented "Soul Train" or the many FM radio "disc-jockeys" around San Francisco and San Jose who played more eclectic fare that transcended the media notion that rock music was less about acts like Howling Wolf, Screaming Jay Hawkins and Bo Diddley and more about Bill Haley and the Comets and Elvis.

I don't think for a minute Dick Clark was a racist but he kept his show very establishment and changed slowly with the times.
Clark probably deserves a blog of mine on his own.

Thanks for taking the time to put this story in cultural context AA. Well done!

  7. I had never encountered Dick Clark before Doug, he sounds a bit like the hero out of a DC comic...when I looked him up it seems he is credited with having started "youth culture"....he is a pretty big fish who never really made it to these shores to the best of my knowledge. But what would I know? I don't know the names of any DJs on music radio here and now today Doug so I may have missed Mr Clark, but he certainly never became a household name here so far as I know Doug....he doesn't have any slave run restaurants here I don't think, but again I could be wrong?
